But not because of the writing. I have read many, many books by both authors and have loved their series (Berserkers and Post Apocalyptic Reverse Harem) as well as Lee Savino's collaboration with Renee Rose. So, without reading a single review, I clicked and bought this book. And then my pet peeves began! Number 1 - this book ends in a cliffhanger, but for these ladies, I would have bought the next book, but Number 2 - when I went to pre-order the next/final book, it's priced at twice as much as the first!! I hate when authors do this inflated pricing when a series starts to do well......it's almost like they're penalizing the reader for liking their book, making it popular and then charging us more for the privilege of supporting their career. NOT nice ladies!! And yes, while I have Amazon Prime, I also purchase favorite author's books so that I have them in my library and can re-read them any time. So while this book was pretty good and held my interest, although not the strongest Heroine they've written and kind of a douche for the anti-hero, I won't be finding out the end of their story. You've lost a fan that liked both of you and your writing!! 😠I'm going to start off saying, not a big fan of Marcus. He's a cold individual that refuses to let the past go or show any type of "weakness", like caring for someone. Cora on the other hand is super naive and refuses to believe anything bad about Marcus even when warned about him. This book is kind of hard for me to like. I gave it four stars because I think the authors did a good job in telling the story and I really like Lee Savino's work. My problem is, I don't like the way Marcus is portrayed, and I've read and enjoyed dark romance before. Add to that, I despise books that end in cliffhangers, with a passion, to the extent that if I know a book ends in a cliffhanger I will not buy it. As of now, I have no intention of purchasing the next book.
